Specialising in all aspects of children work, including public law and private law. In private law, David has appeared in cases involving many aspects of children work. He has experience in complex contact matters,private law disputes, parental responsibility, change of name, child abduction and residence matters.
He has dealt with issues including domestic violence, sexual abuse, mental health and implacably hostile parties.
David accepts instructions at all levels and appears regularly in the Family Proceedings Courts and County Courts throughout the North and has also appeared in the High Court.
David has experience of appearing against litigants in person in both private and public law proceedings and is able to approach matters firmly but fairly without inflaming an already tense situation.
David has extensive experience in applications for Non-Molestation Orders and Occupation Orders. He is able to act at all stages of the process from emergency applications, ex-parte and inter-parties, return date to contested hearings.
David is regularly instructed in personal injury cases including infant approvals, small claims and fast track matters. David has significant experience in dealing with road traffic and credit hire cases, acting for both claimants and defendants. David accepts instructions to represent parties in court as well as to provide written advice on liability and quantum, pleadings and skeleton arguments.
David often prosecutes and defends in criminal matters, both in the Magistrates’ and Crown Courts. His experience includes cases of violent crime, dishonesty offences and public order offences. David also deals with cases in respect of motoring offences. David has appeared at theCourt of Appeal Criminal Division.
North Eastern Circuit
David undertook an Internship with the Regional Public Defenders Office (Texas, USA) assisting Defence Attorney’s preparing cases for capital murder trial, attending upon clients at County Jail and reviewing state evidence. David was also assigned cold casework to review as part of a State-wide Arson Review focusing on incorrect forensic techniques being relied upon resulting in unsafe convictions.
David is able to receive instructions direct from the public or businesses through the Bar’s public access scheme.
